Intuition or Anxiety? Your Body Knows the Difference

Ask yourself: "Is this thought coming from fear of what might happen, or wisdom about what is?"

That gut feeling—is it your intuition guiding you or anxiety holding you back?

I hear this question constantly, and here's what I've learned: Your body gives you different signals for each, but by slowing down you will be able to notice the difference.

Anxiety typically shows up as:

  • Constriction, tightness, especially in chest or throat

  • Racing thoughts that spiral downward

  • A frantic energy that feels like you need to act NOW

  • Disconnection from your body

True intuition feels like:

  • A quiet knowing that doesn't need to convince you

  • A sense of expansion, even if the message is cautionary

  • A calm clarity, even amid uncertainty

  • A full-body alignment—head, heart and gut all saying the same thing

Next time you're unsure which is speaking, try this: Bodyset by placing one hand on your heart, one on your belly and close your eyes. Take three deep breaths. Then ask yourself: "Is this thought coming from fear of what might happen, or wisdom about what is?"

Your body knows and when you get quiet enough, it’s voice will come through and give you the guidance you need.
